swallow the dull stars (2023 - Present)
: the window square whitens and swallows it's dull stars - Sylvia Plath (Morning Song)
Swallow the Dull Stars is a series of self-portraits that explores identity and conflict. Central to my work is the exploration of female abstraction and the gradual disappearance of self felt in each passing decade. Drawing upon photographic history, my process reimagines the purity of a traditional photograph, embracing distortion and blurring the lines between reality and abstraction, reflecting these experiences.
In the darkroom, I am drawn to transformation, each work is a unique, decisions made cannot be reversed, allowing the image to emerge organically, mirroring life's complexities, and creating a dialogue between the tangible and the intangible.
