: the most appealing aspect of photography and printmaking is the directness of making an image

Patience, patience - this is what I tell myself now. For many years I put aside my art practice to focus on mothering and teaching. A void slowly grew and I promised myself each year to make work once I knew what to make it about. The great idea never came and the void never left so I told myself: just make something. This work began with photographs and cyanotypes, inspired by flowers and plants growing wild in North Carolina and Northern Michigan. I began to experiment with linocut and collagraph. Through trial and error, many mistakes, and failed attempts the resulting prints, photographic, relief, and intaglio served as a catalyst for a renewed practice, slowly closing the void.
